Royal Burgundy is a more compact sport (mutation) of a Kanzan cherry blossom with wine-dark purple leaves that emerge in spring with the flowers, which last for 5-10 days. These are double, rose coloured and ruffled, creating the effect of a fluffy pink canopy!
You’ll get the best flowers by planting Royal Burgundy in full sun – we also recommend showing it off against a light coloured background
In autumn the leaves turn to warm scarlet and orange tones and the shimmering copper coloured bark stands out in the winter landscape
Suitable for small gardens, Royal Burgundy grows to a compact 5x4m within 20 years
